I’m sharing Mark’s latest challenge video with Axel Springer CEO Mathias Döpfner, which posted today. They start the conversation on a topic I care deeply about, the future of news, both on Facebook and off. Mark also says we’re considering building a new, dedicated news tab on Facebook.

Since I joined Facebook I’ve seen how News Feed changes and evolves – and the challenges that brings to news publishers. We know there’s more we can do to help people connect with quality news and to support journalism. We’ll build out this tab with input from experts in journalism, to create something that works for both people and publishers. And monetization for publishers will be built into this surface from the start. We want to foster an ecosystem where new forms of journalism, including independent journalism, can thrive.

To be clear, news will also still live in News Feed. We won’t be changing the way people share and find news there. I can’t wait to connect with publishers large and small, local and international as we kick off these discussions.
