The Funded Project:
Create a fellowship to cover and host community gatherings in the underserved Far South Side.
In Their Own Words:
Our main premise is that there is not enough local news in Chicago. Legacy media, including newspapers and TV stations, all cover the same stories. But they leave so many important neighborhood stories untold. Stories both large and small. We cover neighborhoods the same way a small town paper would cover the town. With reporters on the ground, reporting on issues that are important to our readers. The main outcome we aim to accomplish is informing residents about what’s happening in their neighborhoods. Without information, people cannot make informed decisions. They can’t get involved in issues they don’t know about.
